Course, Exam, and CTQM Manual Updates:
The Florida Department of Transportation's State Construction Training Administrator has requested the CTQP Administrator to advise all Providers and Trainees of the following Course, Exam, and CTQM Manual updates:
Effective September 15, 2009, a CTQM manual revision was made to the Drilled Shaft Inspector and the Pile Driving Inspector qualification requirements as follows:
Drilled Shaft Inspector
- Initial qualification
- Pass the Drilled Shaft Inspector Written Exam
- Pass the Drilled Shaft Inspector Proficiency Exam
- Have 30 days of on-site experience
- Re-qualification
- Pass the Drilled Shaft Inspector Written Exam (if the qualification has not expired)
- If qualification expires, you MUST do same as initial qualification
Pile Driving Inspector
- Initial qualification
- Pass the Pile Driving Inspector Written Exam
- Pass the Pile Driving Inspector Proficiency Exam
- Have 30 days of on-site experience
- Re-qualification
- Pass the Pile Driving Inspector Written Exam (if the qualification has not expired)
- If qualification expires, you MUST do same as initial qualification
Effective January 21, 2010, a CTQM manual revision was made to the Asphalt Paving Level 1, Asphalt Paving Level 2, Asphalt Plant Level 1, Asphalt Plant Level 2, and Asphalt Mix Design qualification requirements as follows:
Asphalt Paving Level 1
- Initial qualification
- Pass the Asphalt Paving Level 1 Written Exam
- Pass the Asphalt Paving Level 1 Proficiency Exam
- Re-qualification
- Same as initial
- Asphalt Paving Level I (even if it is expired) is automatically requalified with a successful requalification of Asphalt Paving level 2.
Asphalt Paving Level 2
- Initial qualification
- Pass the Asphalt Paving Level 2 Written Exam
- Possess an active Asphalt Paving Level I qualification at the time of taking the Asphalt Paving Level II written examination.
- Have 90 days of experience
- Re-qualification
- Pass the Asphalt Paving Level 2 Written Exam (if the qualification has not expired)
- As long as Level 2 is kept current, the Level 1 qualification will remain current.
- An active Asphalt Paving level I qualification is not required as long as level 2 is not expired.
- If the Paving Level II is expired, the technician will be considered as an initial qualifier and must obtain same requirements as initial.
Asphalt Plant Level 1
- Initial qualification
- Pass the Asphalt Plant Level 1 Written Exam
- Pass the Asphalt Plant Level 1 Proficiency Exam
- Re-qualification
- Same as Initial
- Is not automatically requalified with a successful requalification of Asphalt Plant Level II.
Asphalt Plant Level 2
- Initial qualification
- Pass the Asphalt Plant Level 2 Written Exam
- Possess an active Asphalt Plant Level I qualification at the time of taking the Asphalt Plant Level II examination.
- Have 90 days of experience
- Re-qualification
- Pass the Asphalt Plant Level 2 Written Exam
- An active Asphalt Plant Level I qualification is not required as long as level 2 is not expired.
- If qualification expires, you MUST do same as initial qualification
- Asphalt Plant Level I is not automatically requalified with a successful requalification of Asphalt Plant Level II.
Asphalt Mix Design
- Initial qualification
- Pass the Asphalt Mix Designer Written Exam
- Possess an active Asphalt Plant Level I qualification at the time of taking the Asphalt Mix Designer qualification.
- Have 90 days of experience
- Re-qualification
- Pass the Asphalt Mix Designer Written Exam (if the qualification has not expired)
- Not required to retake Plant Level 1 written exam for re-qualification as long as Mix Design is not expired.
- If qualification expires, you MUST do same as initial qualification
Computer-Based Training Material:
We are pleased to announce the availability of Computer-Based Training (CBT) for Asphalt Paving Level 1, Asphalt Paving Level 2, Augercast Pile, Concrete Field Inspector Specifications, Concrete Lab Technician Specifications, Earthwork Construction Inspection Level 1, Earthwork Construction Inspection Level 2, Final Estimates Level 1, MSE Wall Inspector, and Quality Control Manager. Each course includes a number of study modules and offers a practice examination for the student to test their knowledge. The practice exams use scrambled questions and are not the same as the exams offered by the providers for qualification. The CBTs and the practice exams are offered free of charge.
Please follow the steps below or click on the link below to go to the CBTs directly. Once you arrive at the portal the courses will be listed in CBT format. You will be asked to set up a user name and password, and to provide contact information the first time you access the CBT. On subsequent visits, you can login as an existing user.
To access these CBTs, click 'Course Preparation Materials' from the menu on the left side of the page, under the heading 'Documents'. There, under the heading 'Course Materials' is a link titled 'CTQP Computer-Based Training' or click on the link below to go directly to the CBTs.
